The Story of Ren Strand Fanø .
Ren Strand Fanø was founded by Peter Michelsen, whose deep love for the island’s nature and tireless dedication led to the first beach clean-up efforts.
Peter became a well-known figure on the island – often seen on the beach with a cleanup bag in hand, ready to collect whatever the sea had washed ashore.
Under Peter’s leadership, Ren Strand Fanø grew from a one-man mission into a broader movement involving both locals and visitors.
The association organized clean-up events and awareness campaigns to highlight the impact of marine pollution and the importance of protecting the coastal environment.
Peter believed that even small actions could make a big difference – and he encouraged everyone to take part in keeping the beaches clean.
After Peter’s passing, his spirit lives on through the continued work of Ren Strand Fanø.
The organization still hosts clean-up events and educates the public about marine conservation.
Thanks to Peter’s legacy – and the ongoing efforts of the community – Fanø’s beaches remain among the cleanest in the world.
