Fish Crates for Marine Waste – A New Initiative

As a new initiative, we are testing the use of fish crates for collecting marine waste. Near the wire cages, you can pick up a crate to gather trash from the beach. Once it’s full, simply leave it visibly on the beach – or use it to hold filled waste bags.
The advantage of the crates is that they can hold much more than a standard bag and are easier to fill – especially on windy days when bags tend to flap around and are difficult to manage.
After 14 days of frost, it is once again possible to collect waste. Shown here is a photo of one of the many loads, along with a container filled with waste collected on a single day – February 5th.
